Chapter 7-(I'm on the right chapter right?)
Swampy opened her mouth to protest but no sound came out. Confidence jumped down in front of Longclaw. Her claws were unsheathed as well.
"Of course I would kill the gate masters..."
Confidence hissed at the surprised Forumers. The crowd gasped. Swampy and Longclaw were gate masters? Everyone had thought gate masters were long gone. After, being able to make new gates and destroy old ones was a difficult task. Only the powerful gate masters could. Seriously though? Longclaw and Swampy? They were popular and everybody liked them. Yet no one has noticed.
"Well that wasn't the most pawsome way for us to find out," Ishmael broke the silence.
Everyone glared at him.
"Of course, a gate keeper could go rogue or corrupt and locked away in Empty Gate..."
"You're a gate keeper!" Longclaw exclaimed.
There was a crunch noise. Fennec was eating popcorn and Quartz was chewing on sushi. Confidence glared.
"Yes," Confidence replied,"And I shall destroy you!"
The panther leaped at the silver cat. She jumped back, only just dodging a bite to the throat. Longclaw rolled over before getting back on her paws and launching herself at Confidence. Her claws dug into the big cat's legs and there was a growl of pain. Longclaw's claws were no longer a shining white. Confidence flipped over on the ground which meant Longclaw had to let go to avoid being crushed. Confidence grapped Longclaw by the scruff of her neck with a victorious look in her hazel eyes.
Meanwhile, King had been fighting Swampy. The Lynx effortlessly pinned the crocodile's jaws shut. He was overconfident. A tail slapped against his head and he bit his tongue in pain. His teeth were sharp so he ended up screaming. Swampy, while he was distracting, held her old friend around the neck with her large mouth. She dragged him over to the water. She was now in her element. King paddled in the water, attempting to get out but the jaws held firm.
"Why did you do this?"
Swampy tried to speak but it came out as 'fly weird yo ood fish?' King snapped his head around and bit Swampy in the only place he could:the top of her mouth. Swampy hissed in pain and dropped the cat. He slashed his claws across her underbelly and the water became an unpleasant colour. Swampy was exhausted. King rolled her out of the water and placed her in a metal box.
"Good bye Swampy."
"You... Can't... Do... This."
King flinched. They were my friends. They liked me. He shook himself. It's for your own good, Swampy. I need to follow my goals, even if it means bringing pain to my loved ones.
"Yes I can. Don't complain that I didn't say goodbye because I did."
King slammed the lid shut. Confidence brought another box next to his.
"We did it," she purred evilly.
"We did," King breathed,"We did."
King turned away. Not to hide the cuts on his face.
It was to hide the tears.
Forumers mentioned:Swampy, Confidence, Longclaw, Ishmael, Fennec, Quartz, King
Note:I hope you liked this. I loved reading your comments on the last chapters.
That ending was hard to write. Especially that last sentence. I could feel myself crying as I typed those words. I'm glad I'm behind a screen;I would be doing the same thing now just from writing it. 'It was to hide the tears.' Poor King.
