[Mods, please let this through.]
BUT, since I can . . .
I'll explain why I ship two of my main OTPs -- a portion of the ones that hardly anybody ships.
Clearout [Clearsight x Whiteout] -
Darkstalker was obsessed with having Clearsight as his mate. It all seemed "so clear" that they were soulmates, and that no one else could interfere. If they're soulmates, what's the point in shipping them with someone else? The relationship also just feels wrong. Clearsight and Darkstalker are too different, but too alike. They don't seem to be the best match.
Then there's Darkstalker's sister. Whiteout may have a thing for Thoughtful, but we see a lot of closer-than-friends sort of interaction throughout the course of the story, even though it doesn't seem that way. Closer to the start, Whiteout made a comment ["I like the way she knits"] that most likely meant she is perhaps intrigued by the way Clearsight does things -- taking so much responsibility on her shoulders, trying to walk along the best path. Or perhaps it means something of an idiom -- "knits" could actually relate to how Clearsight's mind is a huge web of futures, in which she attempts to "weave" her own path. This is clearly a start to showing that Whiteout is starting to like Clearsight, starting out as a simple friendship, or perhaps a little more than that -- admiration can often signify something a little more.
Later on, when Darkstalker's mother had another argument with Arctic and stormed off, Whiteout was making weird shrieking and whining noises when Darkstalker and Clearsight reached the house. While Darkstalker spoke with his father, Clearsight immediately went to Whiteout, holding her close and whispering hushed words of comfort. That seems a little too affectionate for just friends, right? Perhaps a normal friend might pat Whiteout on the back and talk to her a bit, or something relevant to that, but basically cuddling her seems a bit far, even with the fact that Whiteout lost her mother. It could canonically show that there's at least a like relationship between the two -- not friendship or love, but, rather, something in between.
Perhaps this won't canonically advance into a lovers' relationship, but it doesn't mean I can't ship it.
Qinterwatcher [Qibli x Moon x Winter] -
As we can see, Moonbli and Winterwatcher are two really big ships. In the past, I believe that people have actually started flame wars over it. But most often disregard the other possibilities, like Umbli, Moonstalker, Mightywatcher, Qinter, and so on. Another option is Qinterwatcher, which is possibly a more peaceful resolution for the battle between Moonbli and Winterwatcher. Although it only includes the two main ships, along with Qinter, it could remove a lot of the electricity between certain people if it were to canonically happen, or if it managed to spread further across the forums. Anyways, to the book-based reasons.
Both Qibli and Winter clearly have a thing for Moon, which honestly can't end well. They both seem like good dragons for a NightWing like her, even with Winter's bitter side and Qibli's occasionally snarky attitude. Qibli seems to canonically have a slightly closer-than-friend relationship with Winter, just like our friends Clearsights and Whiteout, up at the top. He makes plenty of sarcastic comments and friendly jokes that are almost always directed at the IceWing, who occasionally picks up on his clawmate's playful, jokester attitude by dropping a few sass-filled words or making a quick and hardly noticeable joke. Qibli is clearly trying to split Winter's icy shell, while Winter is less obviously affected to it as he warms up ever so slowly. Winter is even found expecting Qibli to be right by him while at the Ice Kingdom, when he imagines the SandWing speaking words the real Qibli would say just in that circumstance.
Back to both their affection for Moon, Winter obviously gains more and more of a liking for her throughout the second arc, as does Qibli, though he definitely had a thing for Moon much sooner than his clawmate. The funny thing is, you see almost zero electricity between the two when it comes to this subject, despite how clear it is for both dragons that each one loves Moon. Instead, Qibli continues pulling out jokes, once again regularly directed at Winter, and Winter rarely even has the thought of Qibli being an obstacle in his path to a life with Moon, and, rather, continues warming up to the SandWing.
Do I have to do better than that just to peacefully ship Qinterwatcher? No? Okay, thank you.
