"First of all, Darkstalker and Qibli are mirrors of each other. This was a common theory, of course, but now it's confirmed, I guess? Someone asked Tui whether Turtle and Moon are reincarnations of Fathom and Clearsight, and she didn't confirm or deny this, saying it was interesting.
There'll be five more books, mostly set on Pantala, the Lost Continent. (Pantala is also shaped like a dragon.) Clearsight DID reach the Lost Continent, and she had a big effect on the dragons there. She went west to reach it, and since it's too far for any dragon to fly she did something to be able to reach there. (Maybe rested on islands? I dunno.) The prologue of the first book is when she reaches Pantala, and the rest of the book will be set there, except for possibly a bit of the end. The tribes that live there have a different system of royalty, but it is NOT chiefs. Book 11's cover will show some of the structures they live in. Tui's trying not to take inspiration from other peoples' ideas. She said she'll hint at a lot of things between now and when book 11 comes out. These new tribes DO end in -Wing.
We got a preview of the graphic novel, and it looks great so far! Don't judge it by its cover, the art inside is actually better quality than the cover, and it looks pretty good. It'll come out in January and I'm pretty excited! There is currently no movie planned, though Tui would love that. It's a matter of talking to the right people.
On another note - animus magic both literally chips away at your soul and has a psychological effect. If you do bad, selfish things with your magic, it's a lot worse on your soul. If you do entirely good things your soul will be safe. There was no first animus dragon, they originated from multiple dragons. Albatross did have at least hybrid ancestry, if he's not a hybrid himself.
Darkstalker is neither good nor evil; he's very complex. Tui didn't design him with "good" or "evil" in mind, though he DEFINITELY did evil things. He was definitely a villain, though not a 100% evil one. He did put a spell on Anenome to kill her family, though it was also partially her animus curse and all. The thing about a SandWing animus making the dreamvistors was just false information passed on over the years.
Tui said she also wouldn't be surprised if a city mostly populated by hybrids turned up. She also said that dragons' technology hasn't advanced much for two reasons; they have magic and all so they don't have a huge demand and the tribes were pretty isolated before the war.
Fathom had a normal, good life, along with Whiteout and Thoughtful. Whiteout breathes fire, and Tui doesn't know what color her blood is. Starspeaker is canon, though it's a bit awkward and all, and nothing is guaranteed to work out. Tui mentioned she wanted to do more with Lynx, but I never got the chance to ask her if Winter found someone, seing as the public questions were spoiler-free and I didn't want to hold up the signing line (it was pretty long and slow).
A few other random facts - the new Jerboa is a similar color to Qibli; Pyrrhia was named after the genus of moth; Tui's favorite character to write is Peril and she would be a RainWing if she was a dragon; scavengers' civilization was as advanced as the Mayans or ancient Egyptians at the time of the Scorching; Tui might write about how Chameleon found the scroll or Thorn and Stonemover's relationship; the original Jerboa's protective spells on her daughter were based on what Tui might do; she feels like Stand By You could be Qibli's theme song; and probably more I forgot."
This is an info dump they did.
