Echonight is leading a patrol through the terriotry, but hasn't noticed the bird yet.

The crow continues to make a ruckus. 

Oceanlight was on the patrol with Echonight, also oblivious to the crow

A slightly younger Cloudclaw hears the crow, but doesn't pay any attention to it. It's just a crow, right?

The crow, seemingly annoyed by the cats ignoring it, starts flapping it's wings, cawing even louder and stirring up a huge ruckus. 

"What in the name of Starclan..."

Echonight growls, glancing over at the mess of black feathers that is screaming in the heather.

"That'll make a good meal," says Cloudclaw, getting into the hunting crouch.

Grasswhisker narrowed her eyes and cocked her ears toward the sound. She heard- wait-

She barged into Cloudclaw, knocking him out of the way, and yowled at the crow just as it dove down, sharp talons grasping. The crow, startled by the scream, cawed at her irratably and flew away. 

A young Deltapaw was with the patrol. He yelped as the crow dived down at Cloudclaw andGrasswhisker, his fur brushing up in surprise. 

The crow flies off, seemingly annoyed by the cat's attack. Where it had been flapping, a small pathc of fur lays in the grass, unmoving.

"It got away. Shame."

Echonight mutters, looking after the bird.

"Grasswhisker! You scared it away!" Cloudclaw said, a hint of lightness in his voice. He then noticed the fur and started toward it. "It seems to have left something behind."

It’s Bluepaw’s origin story

"What... did it leave it's prey?"

Echonight looks over, and then bristles when the bundle of fur moves, mewing pitifully. The kit can't be more than a few days old, tiny and wriggling. It's not hurt, but it seems hungry.

Grasswhisker bristled at Cloudclaw. She ran over to Echonight and peered over her shoulder at the pitiful lump. "I heard a kit cry underneath it. I couldn't have ignored it- the crow might have picked it up!" 

Now her Corvidophobia makes sense

A younger Spiritwalker runs up, out of breath. Her eyes seem softer. "It's a kit. A little kit..." she mutters, grabbing the kit in her jaws. "Quickly, to the camp."

Echonight nodded, starting back to camp.

"It's so small. I wonder how the crow even got it... it's mother should have been protecting her kits."

"The mother is most likely dead," muttered Grasswhisker, loping off towards camp. 

"Shame."

Echonight says, remembering her own mother, Silvergleam. The silver tabby had died just after Echonight had become a warrior. 

Swiftrabbit bounded towards the patrol with a crow in his maw. “What happened?” He asked through a mouthful of feathers.

Spiritwalker bristled at the sight of the crow, running past Swiftrabbit into the medicine den with the kit. She started licking it, curling up next to it to make sure it was safe and warm. 

"We- technically I- found a kit being attacked by a crow near camp. We rescued it." Grasswhisker raised her tail proudly.

Swiftrabbit nodded. 

Moorkit ran out of the nursery, and into the medicine den. "What's this?" She squeaked. 

Spiritwalker lifted her head to the kit. "Oh, hello Moorkit. We found a crow carrying this kit here. We took it back here." She smiled. "Do you think you could get me a ball of moss with some water from the stream in here?" I might have to apprentice her some day. 

The kit squeals, Spiritwalker's licking exposing blue fur from under the dirt and crow dander that had been making it look black and brown. It seemingly appreciated the warmth, nuzzling into her fur and mewling softly. 

Echonight is sitting outside the medicine den, showing a surprising amount of interest in the kit, as she has never seemed too fond of kits before.

Jaspersong padded into the den,"Aw! A blue kit! How unusual. And dirty." She shuddered a bit

Spiritwalker chuckled a bit. "Bluekit. That's her name now." She smiled. "Sometimes I wonder if the life of a warrior would suit me more. It's times like these that make me happy to be a medicine cat." She turned her head to the entrance. "Echonight? You know you can come in."

Larkfoot pokes her head out of the nursery. "Did someone just say you found a kit?"

Moorkit nodded. "Sure thing!" The kit chirped. She hopped over to the stream and soaked a moss ball in it. She padded back over to Spiritwalker. 

Echonight walked in slowly, looking down at the kit with wide eyes.

"It's so small... tiny even."

The she-cat sniffs the kit, who mewls and tries to wiggle over to Echonight.

Spiritwalker chuckled again. "You can take my spot so I can get some herbs for the tiny one." She nodded a thanks to Moorkit, and tried to get the kit to lap up a but of the water. 

Larkfoot's eyes widen. "She needs milk!" She limped over to the little she-kit.

Echonight stepped aside to let Larkfoot get to the kit, but as soon as she did the kit started mewling again, crying out and kneading it's tiny paws as if it's looking for her. 

Larkfoot lay down on the dust and brushed Bluekit's shoulder with her tail. "Come on. Come here. Milk." 

Bluekit flops down right next to Larkfoot, purring deeply before starting to eat.

"She certainly has... moxie."

Echonight says, as if she's nervous about what the kit might think.

 "Poor thing. She probably hasn't eaten in days." Larkfoot stroked the kit with her tail, soothing her.

 Grasswhisker turned away and headed into the warrior's den.
