*a sign, stating the name of the farm and that the farm was established in 1914, greets you as you turn onto the quarter-mile-long dirt road, that is surprisingly wide, almost as wide as the two-lane highway you just turned off of. the dirt road opens up to a large open area, also paved with dirt, and surrounded by equipment sheds and barns. you count at least 2 John Deere combines, 7 John Deere tractors, 3 of them full-size 9R series, one of them a 9RX. also, you see 2 sprayers, 3 grain trucks and trailers, and implements galore. behind all of this are 4 large grain bins, all connected by a system of screws. behind them is the WoFRR mainline, with a siding, containing a few grain cars, bumping up against the bins. a farmhouse is on a corner of the property, 2 stories, and white.

Night comes around a corner driving a 6430 with a loader on it, and, seeing you, stops and gets out*

hello, and welcome to my new homethread!

I couldn't find my first one, second one was abandoned, and I felt the need to let my creative juices flow, so I created a new homethread!

I farm about 6,000 acres on this farm with help from some of my OCs, despite being dragons, have anthro forms, so they are able to drive.

anyway... yeah. memes and stuff galore. NO CASE IH, NEW HOLLAND, OR ANY OTHER TRACTOR BRAND!

I mean

he perfectly mixed country and rap into a thing he calls "hick-hop" and it is AWESOME-SOUNDING!

*nighthawk, one of my OCs, pokes head around corner of an equipment shed with a nervous look on his face* hey night?

yeah- wait, shouldn't you be cultivating field C-8?

yeah, about that... the left wing on the cultivator completely lost hydraulic pressure, and I can't figure out why.

*sigh* always something... I'll be there in a minute!

thinking about making forms for the OCs that I have working on this farm

especially since some people don't know what anthro is

well, it is short for anthropolomorphism, which means an animal with humanoid characteristics. like, everything in zootopia is anthro.

I'll defenitely make descriptions for them.

I'm going to make a second steam engine for the WoFRR, but instead of being preserved and used for passenger excursions, I'll put it to use on freight trains, as it's a swol boi.

I'll probs post it later, if anybody's stalking me.

(you know what ignore last post, i'm skipping to harvest)

the sun is just peeking over the horizon, casting long graceful shadows and an orange glow on the sky. stars can still be seen, but they are rapidly dissapearing. a rust-orange moon still hangs defiantly in the sky.

a figure, then two, come out of the farmhouse. both look tired, and, though you can't hear what they're saying, you can guess that they're grumbling about having to wake up so early.

they walk away, and disappear behind some equipment. you hear the sound of diesel engines starting up, and two puffs of black smoke curl into the sky. about then, four pickup trucks pull in, and more figures get out. two combines, merely shadows in the early morning light, pull around to the other side of the yard to get their headers.

45 minutes later, everything is hooked up, and the two combines, each with a bean header, followed by the four mack trucks, leave the yard, one heading north, one south, each with two trucks and a grain cart.

harvest has started.

*an intermodal train, 135 cars, and loaded, led by 2 SD90MACs, both a dust color, and 3 SD70Ms, 1 blue, the other 2 brown, rumbles at 15 mph over a switch and into the siding on the other side of the tracks from the grain bins. once the whole train is in, it stops, and waits.

5 minutes later, cars and trucks start turning down the dirt road, much to Night's annoyance, and start setting up cameras by the tracks.

a couple minutes later, a plume of steam can be seen off in the distance, and the low roar of #7214's whistle pierces the air. she's a 4-6-6-4 Challenger type steam locomotive, and the rails start to vibrate in tune to the pounding of her drivers, and then she appears over a hill. at full steam, paint gleaming, and a stream of smooth-sided cars behind her, it's every railfan's dream.

she roars by the farm at 80 mph, the ground shaking, windows and doors rattling, and the flagpole on the farm shivering. somebody brought an earthquake sensor; it reads 2.1. Night stands in awe, as does one of his employees, Sidewinder*

off in the distance, plumes of dust can be seen as the combines churn away at the endless acres of soybeans, and the yields are so good, the carts and trucks can barely keep up. Night himself has to jump in an extra truck, and soon, every 20 minutes a truck shows up at the silos, dumping around 1300 bushels each.

later that day, while Night's truck is unloading for the 13th time, he pulls out his cellphone and starts making calls. he is still talking as he finishes unloading, gets back in the truck, and heads back out, the sun just barely starting to paint the sky in a harvest sunset.

a half-hour later, the combines are churning once again, though it now seems like they aren't running fast enough. extra trucks had been rented, but that isn't the problem; there aren't enough combines.*

my WOFsona, peeps!

Name: rockfall
Gender: male
Sexuality: bi
Appearance: dark orange scales, with maroon scales along his spine and Top of tail, light orange under scales and claws. Kinda buff from working on a farm and pushing over dead trees.
Personality:
Backstory: his parents owned a decorative plant shop on the northeast side of a small town south of the palace, in a little valley shadowed by the mountains. As a young dragonet, he played hide-and-seek with his older brother, Twister. But, when he was 5, an avalanche caused by somebody accidentally setting off a dragonflame cactus swept through the town, destroying most of the north side of town, killing 3. But, most of the deaths were in a library, which the shop was right next to, and therefore protected. After that disaster, both Twister and Rockfall helped dig for survivors, and helped as much as they could with the cleanup, until Queen Ruby’s soldiers showed up and took over. After that, Rockfall dedicated himself to finding out what causes things like this, and how to keep them from happening. But before he could get very far in his research, his parents couldn’t afford to keep him and his brother in their home (they’re 13 and 16), let alone fund Rockfall’s research, so they moved out together, and work on a farm farther down the valley to pay for the house and are currently enjoying the bachelor life. Rockfall’s hobby of pushing over dead trees originated from his limited research, firewood, and boredom.
