Hi hi hi hi hiiiiii!!!
It’s here! It’s today! It’s LAUNCH DAY! Book Eleven: The Lost Continent is out in the world! I would totally be on my couch under blankets watching The 100 right now, except that instead I have to put on sparkly shoes and be at the launch party tonight – I hope some of you can come! Politics and Prose at the Wharf, Washington DC, 7pm! I have for the first time ever painted my toenails to match my book cover, like all normal authors do.
Or if you can’t make it to DC tonight, I’ll also be doing a few events this summer -- two stops on the Scholastic Summer Reading Road Trip, two bookstores in Massachusetts in July, and Books of Wonder in NYC in August -- so hopefully we can meet up at one of those!
I’m also so excited that the map of Pantala is officially out in the world now. I have to tell you, my sketch for this was even worse than my Pyrrhia sketch -- super scribbly and all over the place -- so I’m enormously grateful that our wonderful map artist, Mike Schley, was able to turn it into such a beautiful final map.
And I want you to see the amazing full cover! The Hives! The silk bridges! The savanna! Oh my goodness, Joy!
In totally related news, I’ve been talking about dragons so much that a certain small fluffy member of the household got jealous, so I promised him I’d write about him too. Here’s Rainbow Dog after “helping” mow the lawn, valiantly trying to turn himself into a LeafWing so I’ll pay more attention to him:
And here he is expressing his opinions on my plot ideas for Book Twelve:
(Oh, so very helpful, Mr. Bo!)
All right, I have to go get ready for tonight, but thank you all for your theories and excitement and wonderfulness! I really hope you all like Blue and Pantala and Book Eleven, and I hope you all have an awesome summer full of quiet reading time and great books! (What else are you reading this summer? Do you have any suggestions for me and my rising third-grader who loves graphic novels, Holes, and Abraham Lincoln?)
If anyone needs me, I’ll be barricaded in my office writing Book Twelve, which may be from the POV of a certain HiveWing named Cricket. . . .
Love and hugs,
