All right, we’re going to have some spoilers in here, but let’s try to keep it to worldbuilding rather than plot.

We saw so many different environments across the first two arcs, but the Hives are something completely new. The webs are made by SilkWings and the sun through the treestuff walls glows amber. There are markets with shops, playgrounds, and a prison.

What details about the Hives did you find the most interesting? Tell us everything you noticed!

1. candy stores!

2. I thought that the way HiveWings and SilkWing were treated so differently was interesting. SilkWing's lives are completely controlled by the HiveWings from the moment they've hatched; their jobs, where they live, and even family are chosen after they recieve their wings. I'm wondering exactly how the Queen chooses their new partner; it could be random, since that's a lot of SilkWings to keep track of, but Blue mentioned that the Queen knew what she was doing when she chose partners. So I'm a bit confused; how does the Queen even have time to do it all?

3. "When all the HiveWing's eyes go white, you can tell that treestuff is about to hit the Hive." -Clever

4. Since there's very little wood to be found anywhere (except the Poison Forest, and I doubt you could get out of there alive...), I think that their books are made from papyrus, which was mentioned to be growing inside the Queen's greenhouse. By the way, why would the LeafWings be hiding there? Hiding right below the golden snout of the enemy. I can't decide if that's smart or stupid.

The architecture is really interesting, and then of course all the different stores and such is a great addition, especially since it gives the feel of an entire society but across the individual hives

1) DRAGONS NOW HAVE CANDY STORES. WHAT.

2) I think the concept for Misbehaver's Way is really interesting. They don't really need a proper prison- just a fast-acting natural nerve agent that will paralyze you long enough for public incarceration.

3) SilkWings are treated like second-class dragons, which they are, essentially, in Pantala's social heirarchy. Every single servant or servant figure is shown to be a SilkWing- none of them HiveWings. Do HiveWings- the ones who can afford SilkWing servants, anyway- do anything by themselves that their SilkWings can't do for them? Even their marriage rights are different.

Okay, so,

1. CANDY. STORES.

2.Pantala is so technologically advanced compared to Pyhrria...

They have, glass, light bulbs, terraniums, greenhouses, chalk, blackboards, canvases, glasses, potions, and even the candy is so complicated and beautiful (and, I presume, tasty).

3. AND BOOKS!

4. READING "MONKEYS"!

5. It's pretty cool that Clearsight's temple has an Asian kind of design. (The way I imagined it, at least)

6. LOTS! OF! BOOKS!

7. I wonder why the HiveWings didn't build Hives in the mountains... Maybe the terrain was too hard to build them on?

8. I also wonder if anyone lives there...

9. MORE! BOOKS!

10. SO! MANY! BOOKS!

I think it is interesting that the HiveWing homes where Cricket lives have mosaics made from glass and shells and colored stones in their walls. It is also interesting that they don't use flowers as decoration that much, more mosaics and weavings. The hives are really cool!

Pantalan dragons are so much more advanced than Pyrrhians. I mean, they have lightbulbs, books instead of scrolls, a complex social hierarchy, set currency, and so much more. The old NightWing kingdom (and I'd assume the rest of Pyrrhia as well) was almost, if not as, advanced, but the current Pyrrhia is what you'd think of when you think of a continent of dragons - fighting, tension, and not much social structure aside from the royal family. So what happened to Pyrrhia to make its advancing technology cease to exist?

The most surprising thing to me was that they where made of wood. Being based on wasps and bees I just assumed that they could build nest/hives like them, by making that papery substance.

I also find the Hives placement very interesting. Why don't they go to the edges of the contenet? Do they mark the edges of Queen Wasp's mind controlling reach?

IRL wasps don't make that papery substance from nothingIt's made of wood pulp, just like the treestuff that the Hives are made of.

Oooh interesting thoughts about what the Hives are made of!

And I think the books instead of scrolls thing is interesting too. Pantala makes me want to learn more about the Pyrrhian towns and what's similar and what's different about them.

I definitely want to try dragon sweets, possibly one of my favorite scenes in the book.

What do you think about the webs? Would you be willing to work on them?

What I'm wondering if there are other places besides the Hives on Pantala that dragons live. And do the LeafWings live in the Poison Jungle, or somewhere else? But Clearsight's temple was really cool. These places are amazing.

NightWing: Shadow

SilkWing: Spinner

HiveWing: Junebug

LeafWing: Acacia

(for the fourth) It's actually quite a smart idea, because no one really goes there, and the only dragons that do go down aren't trained to fight, and they probably go in either alone or in small groups, so it's easy to take them down even if they do go in there, and everyone believes that they are all dead, so no one would go looking for them. Those are my thoughts.

I really enjoyed the silk/webs in the Hives.  I do wish they was more of an indication on how big the lost continent is. (I forgot the name).  I think it is half the size of Phyrria.  I'm very pleased with the fact that the new dragons have insect shaped wings because the first two arcs were fairly perdictable.  Not saying that I don't LOVE WOF.

I quite enjoyed the concept of discrimination against the silkwings. It was clearly a reference to the white people enslaving the black people, and the mistreatment of the silkwings was also very interesting to read. “This is a hive wing only shop.” “I’m gonna serve you last because you are lost priority.”
