Hear yea hear yea, it chilly out there.
There won't be news posts on Thurs or Fri this week due to Thanksgiving. I'll be making pie.
@Angie I'm still looking into it, unfortunately it's a tricky one since we haven't been able to reproduce it. It's been affecting you as well?
@Happeh 1. well the filter should catch all curses/swears! So if you did let one slip into a post, the post just won't show up on the forum. That's often punishment enough for an accident, since I know how annoying it is to not have a post come through. I'll put out a warning here in the news as well so you can be aware of it, but if it were to turn into a recurring thing that's when I'd start to give out 24 hour bans. It also depends on how the curse is used, if it's being directed at another forumer in a mean way then that's more than just inappropriate language, it's a bullying/meanness issue.
2. I might upset some big Star Wars fans with my answers haha. My top movies are Empire Strikes back and The Force Awakens. My least favorite is The Clone Wars (though, strangely enough, that was the first Star Wars movie I ever saw. In theaters. On the day it came out.)
@Turquoise I don't see it right off the bat so I'd try reposting it. What is the RP called? A keyword from it can help me find it, it's not as easy as I want it to be to find posts :( Also congrats on your first post on page five-hood.
@Cobra I climbed the mountain of ADMODhood and offered my most precious possession to the ancient ADMOD shrine.
Real answer: there is a job called Community Manager. Most communities will have one, such as large streamers, forums, and companies with big online presences. I studied games in university, spent a lot of time on the internet, worked in indie games, then wound up here!
@Zane It's very enjoyable to be an admin/mod/modmin/admod. Every day there's always something new, it's never the same ol, same ol stuff. Whether it's reading really creative writing, or planning something for the future for you all, it's always different. My fave movieeeee isssssss ahhhhh Princess Bride! But this is such a hard question T_T Also a huge Moana fan. I watched it on a plane and cried.
@Lightstar I picture post-dragons, but dragons are so big, it might be hard for them to hand out the news to us. What do you think? Maybe it's a place where scavengers and dragons work together.
@Platinum We tend to use the words interchangeably here, but typically admins will have more responsibility than mods. Moderators are more responsible for removing content - they're in the backend moderating things. Admins are more frontend, talking to yall and understanding what's going on in the community (and still moderating stuff that gets reported).
@Gleam I unfortunately don't get notifications about filtered posts, it just happens automatically and then I can see which ones get removed. Once it's removed I can't push it through to the forums...all I can do is try to figure out why it was caught. I don't think you should have to changes the names either! I'm trying to get the problem figured out, since the filter is catching your post as spam which it just so clearly isn't. Anyways, try to repost every once and a while and I'll work on my end to get the filter sorted. We're working on bigger changes to the filter...bear with it for now, though I know it's annoying.
@Scientist Say it with me: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO NERDY. That sounds like there was an issue with the site, sometimes you may notice the forums don't load or some other weird thing happens. That might have happened as you submitted your post so it didn't actually go through. Or the forums glitched right as it did go through. They're old, so weird spooky stuff happens like that :/
@Alphawolf If you look back at some previous news posts I've answered this, but the tl;dr is two things: 1. sometimes during busier times things might get clogged and posts will appear slower 2. the filter had an issue a few times a few weeks ago (it might have happened again, not sure) that basically had it absorbing posts and not releasing them to the forum, so nothing came through for a while and then BAM a ton of posts all at once.
How do ghosts figure out where to haunt? Spooky old houses, decrepit mansions, dusty basements - the possibilities are endless! You help assign ghosts their haunting spot, sort of like a spectral sorting hat or travel guide. But one day you accidentally assign a ghost to a tropical beach. Oops.
You are a small rat in a large city. One day you smell something delicious: a fresh slice of pizza that has fallen on the ground. It's much larger than you, but you insist on dragging it home anyways. Once eaten, you discover you've developed super rodent powers. You are....Pizza Rat. And it's time to test out how powerful you are.
This post by Grif is really beautifully written: /346572
Ellysia created some very poetic WoF themed riddles: /346447
And Boop created a post about giving regular objects deep backstories. The first one breaks my heart :( /346717
@Jacob it's only ok to share the state or country you're in/from, not the city.
