Aera scrambled to his feet. His knees scraped against the cave floor, tinting his knees hot pink against the bright white of his skin. ...The first two spots on the Leaderboard were already filled. On the inside, he knew he would never be able to get the light things in time and escape the tunnel system.
He felt the tunnel began to slope upwards. He felt the air get clearer... was he near an exit? No, he had to turn around. But maybe there was a little light sphere up ahead and it wasn't a tunnel exit. Before he knew it, he was in a clearing-like area of the cave, and-
Aera felt himself trip again, landing flat on the ground.
He was barely able to lift his head up before he heard the click of spotlights. The dreaded Leaderboard appeared on the wall nearby.
The third and final name clicked into place on the Leaderboard with a loud buzz.
The Leaderboard was full.
Aera had not secured a spot on the Leaderboard.
He had failed.
He was going to die.
And he felt the cave walls begin to shake and crumble down.
